Emma Thomas

Tchr - Science - Jr High

Hi E-STEM raptors!

My name is Emma Thomas (she/her) and I go by Mrs.Thomas or Mrs.T with my students. I grew up in White Bear Lake and attended college at the University of Minnesota (go Gophers!). This is my 5th year of teaching, and my 1st year at E-STEM. Before working at E-STEM, I spent 4 years teaching science at Battle Creek Middle School.

When I am not at school teaching science, I love spending time outside. I like to hike, kayak, and swim, and also enjoy just spending time outside by the lakes in the twin cities. I also am a big arts and crafts person and am always learning a new skill.

I am excited to be your teacher this year and explore the world of environmental science! In this class, we'll explore a variety of topics related to animals, plants, ecosystems, and the environment. We'll dive into subjects like renewable resources, climate, and ecosystems, with a special focus on native plants and animals and ecological concerns right in our own Minnesota backyard. Through labs, outdoor explorations, and hands-on projects, we will learn how to think like an ecologist and become a steward of the natural lands around our campus and community.

We have a class website- If you would like to see our current class calendars and up-to-date learning information, please head to this link: https://sites.google.com/stpaul.k12.mn.us/mrst-estemscience/home
