Battle Creek Middle Schoolers Plant Trees for School Improvement Project
There is a large-scale habitat restoration project underway at Battle Creek Middle School. This entirely grant-funded project came about due to the invasive plant-infested east-side field flooding out school and city infrastructure.
SPPS has partnered with various organizations for monetary contributions and one of these is Great River Greening (GRG). GRG has graciously donated 18 trees to the Battle Creek Middle School project.
Students and staff from Battle Creek Middle School gathered outside on Thursday, May 16 to get their hands (and shovels) in the dirt to help plant the trees that will inhabit the school field. Students took turns digging the holes while also learning about tree and root health and how trees impact the environment.
